The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) is an economic development organization established by the Board of Directors of the state-created Massachusetts Technology Park Corporation (MTPC) to enhance the Commonwealth’s knowledge-based Innovation Economy. MTC carries out its mission by:

• Conducting and disseminating research and analysis to promote a better understanding of the forces that shape the state’s economy, and
  
  
• Facilitating productive collaborations among the business, academic and governmental enterprises that comprise the Innovation Economy.

MTC acts as a facilitator and consultant to Berkshire Connect, a project which resulted from a request by the Berkshire legislative delegation to MTC to assist businesses throughout Berkshire County to form a new organization of Internet users. Berkshire Connect has successfully negotiated a commitment from private telecom service providers to establish a second telecom network in the county that will provide high-speed access at greatly reduced prices.
